About the Position:
The Web Applications Developer provides application programming, development, analytics, and consulting for the Learning Management System (LMS) and other supported LSS supported systems. The position also works with Enterprise Applications and other Banner support offices in order to ensure correct and timely flow of users and course registration between Banner and the LMS.
Responsibilities:
Data Integration and Analytics
- Oversees Banner-LMS data integrations;
- Works with Enterprise Applications and Registrar to develop workflows; and
- Manages data analytics with Enterprise Data Integration Services and Reporting and IT Security.
Tool Integration
- Develops and administers APIs to integrate supported user tools with institutional systems; and
- Integrates LMS and external tools via Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) and other methods.
Application Support Functions
- Provides support to Learning Management System Administrators for the LMS and other supported applications; and
- Provides technical expertise to Learning Support Services in application design and programming and maintains familiarity with hardware, software, applications, and tools that promote the efficiency and effectiveness of LSS and its customers.
Assessment Functions
- Writes queries and develops meaningful statistical reports to analyze tool usage and answer data requests.
Interdepartmental Functions
- Consults with decision-makers, planning groups, support staff, and technical staff that are developing and implementing instructional strategies that relate to overall programs of instructional improvement;
- Assists in planning, development, and implementation of these initiatives as they relate to support provided by OLR; and
- Serves on ITS committees and supports other ITS initiatives and events as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in related field;
- Previous job experience supporting a Learning Management System;
- Skills in developing, testing, and deploying APIs with a Learning Management System;
- Skills in writing in one or more currently used programming languages appropriate for web application development and integrations;
- Skills in querying relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server; and
- Skills in understanding a user's data needs and delivering comprehensive statistics and analytics from a learning management system.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field;
- Considerable experience of full-time job experience supporting a learning manage system, preferably Canvas;
- Skills in developing LTI integrations with LMSs;
- Skills in integrating data from a Student Information System with a Learning Management System, Canvas preferred;
- Skills in supporting end users with the Blackboard and/or Canvas LMSs;
- Demonstrated communication (written and verbal), analytical, and organization skills; and
- Demonstrated record of delivering quality customer service and working cooperatively and effectively with management, other team members, and clients including faculty, staff, and students.
